            BEST FRIENDS FOREVER

Tabasco loves his volunteers!

Hi, I’m Tabasco. My foster mom calls me “T”. I’m a sweet boy with a gentle heart. I am looking for a human to love and to give my unconditional love. I walk good on a leash and I love to run. I am in a foster home right now, and I am doing great. We go to the river and I even have play dates. I love to swim and go on long hikes. Come meet me. xo T

T’s foster mom says these important things about T:

“Tabasco loves to play tug-of-war with his rope toy!!!  It’s his favorite game in the world. He loves to take long walks through the forest, we hike about 2 miles in the morning and 2-4 miles at sunset. We typically walk with a muzzle as he sometimes likes to chase small critters (and we always use a leash). Tabasco LOVES the water and we regularly take dips in the river so he can swim. He will swim for hours if you let him!  Tabasco is a gentle eater, and has displayed zero signs of food aggression. He is very ritualistic and likes to keep the same “itinerary” daily.

One of the challenges Tabasco faces is that he is untrusting of other animals, mainly dogs and even cows. While I have had great success socializing him with FEMALE dogs, the same cannot be said of males or dogs larger than him. This is most likely caused by his time living on the streets. For this reason, he is always leashed and muzzled if we walk anywhere off my property.

Tabasco is perfectly content NOT socializing with other dogs, but with his human companions instead. He belongs in a home with no other animals and an owner who understands his needs and follows them.  I have never seen him show aggression to humans/children. He has LOVED every person he meets!

T NEVER goes the bathroom in the house. He gets 2 walks daily and does all his business on the walks.  He won’t even poop in the yard, he waits for his walks. So he’s a great dog if someone has a busy work schedule as he really only needs to be let out once in the morning and once in the evening. He is a great dog for someone living solo, who is looking for a best friend and a sense of security.

The best thing about fostering T has been the love he has shown me during difficult times.  Tabasco has been the best thing that has happened to me since moving here to Costa Rica. There’s no way I could have asked for a better companion. – Randi”
